Replace Nokia N96 950mAh with 1200mAh battery for better performance

November 21st, 2008

The Nokia N96 ships with a 950mAh battery, which is fine for the everyday user, but if you are a power user the Nokia N96 could do with a little be more punch such as with a 1200mAh battery, which if you check out the video fits quite well in the N96.

When asked, Nokia gave a lame reason that 1200 mAh battery doesn’t fit the Nokia n96 design and it would make it look fatty.

however this youtube video reveals the other side of the story and shows you how exactly you can replace your Nokia n96 950mAh battery with 1200 mAh battery for excellent performance.

N96 Firware Upgrade Wips out Applications?

November 21st, 2008

I have heard stories from people claiming that the latest firware upgrade is hacking into their N96 applications and simply wiping them out from Nokia N96 phone completely leaving no trace.

Installing the latest firmware will apparently leave all your apps, contants, calendar settings and the like intact - just update and go.

I did some test the other day with their latest firmware Update v 11.101

It seems all my old and new applications are intact without any issues. I played with Fring, Truphone my favorite VOIP apps and made a few calls out. All seems to be working without any issues.

Go ahead get yourself upgraded with the latest firmware (Please note all firmware upgrades are not compatible with Nokia n96 models, Please check if an update is available to your handset. N96 sold in different countries comes with different updates)

Nokia N96 Bruce Lee Special Edition

November 21st, 2008

Nokia N96 continues to add on and spice up their phone. This time around they came out with a special edition of Bruce Lee- The best on screen martial arts actor. N96 is packed with super-cool Bruce Lee doll (complete with Onitsuka Tiger trainers), a phone featuring Bruce’s face and signature on the case, a set of rare photos and accessories including a Bruce Lee strap and decorative nunchakus.

So far it’s only been released on Hong Kong, via the local Nokia website. If you don’t fancy risking that, I suspect eBay will be full of them in a matter of weeks. It’s priced at the equivalent of a whopping £871.

The design is about the same as on the regular model, measuring 103×55x18mm, and weighing 125g, the only difference being that, now, the back panel features an imprint of Bruce Lee and, of course, his signature.

You can buy or bid for N96 on Ebay

October 22nd, 2008

Only a few days Nokia released the first firmware upgrade  v11.018  for Nokia n96 and now it seems Nokia is working hard to make this beauty even better with a new firmware upgrade v 11.101

A few other problems that are new solved are: Low audio volume in Mobile TV. DVB-H audio volume level is now set to be similar to N77 — Image Quality improvements — Illumination with Voice call — error fixes related to general system stability improvements.

    Review:

Stunning to look at, feature packed and Mensa smart, the Nokia N96 is a multimedia mobile with a high-quality video and music player, 5.0 megapixel camera and 16GB memory.

Watching videos and listening to music on the Nokia N96 is fantastic. The picture on the supersize 2.8” screen is bright and clear, and the sound from the built-in 3D stereo speakers is superb. There’s even a clever little kickstand on the back of the N96 so you can sit back and enjoy the show.

With a massive 16GB internal memory, the Nokia N96 can store a mountain of music, videos, pictures and maps. And if 16GB isn’t enough, you can increase this to 24GB using the N96’s memory card slot.

When you use the Nokia N96 to take photos, the picture quality is in a different league - thanks to its 5.0 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics. The N96 also has a geotagging feature that lets you record where you’ve taken a shot so you can share the details with friends online.

With its super-fast 3.5G connection to the internet, the Nokia N96 is great for downloads. It also comes with Nokia Maps, plus the option to upgrade to a GPS navigation system that directs you on foot and in the car.

The Nokia N96 has already been made available from Free on some of the higher line rental tariffs from all the networks that have now released the phone, however over the next few weeks the price of the handset will drop making the N96 free on some of the lower pay monthly tariffs.
