Nokia doesn't realize the full sales and word-of-mouth potential of any of their units. As soon as one is ready to purchase an N80, the N81 is announced. Before I decided to up the ante for an N81, news of the N82 sufaces. As I'm deciding if I want to wait for the N82 to arrive, I decide to save for an N95. Just as I'm prepared to buy an N95, news of the N96 comes up. Before putting $600 into an N96, I decide to wait to see what the N96 is about and how much it will cost. Before the N96 becomes available, Nokia is already leaking images of the N96i.

Part of satisfaction is newness. When one drops $600 for a phone, they want it to be cutting edge for at least a couple of hours. Nokia takes away from it's own prestige and causes customers to be dissatisfied w/ their pricey units almost immediately. It's an unwise marketing strategy. They could sell many more of each unit, if they let the sales of that unit play out before endlessly drawing our attention to what always seems to be next.
